San Juan County was well represented as republican candidates and Washington State Republican Chair Kirby Wilbur visited Orcas and San Juan Islands. Atty General Rob McKenna, candidate for Washington Governor, Dan Matthews, candidate for US Congress and John Swapp, candidate for Washington Senate met with San Juan County leaders and residents. Business and Farmer’s Market visits gave the candidates knowledge of the difficulty in San Juan County’s present tourist based seasonal economy.
