Supreme Court Justice Souter Demands Obama Produce Birth Certificate

Published by Cindy under Uncategorized

Rumors have flown around the internet for the past half year claiming that Barak Obama is not a natural born citizen.  Most court cases filed have been dismissed, and mostly on the grounds that the people filing the court cases do not have the standing to file the lawsuit.  Hawaiian Department of Health officials have publicly stated they have seen the certificate.  They did not state where the certificate said Obama was born, but they did see it.  Certificates of live birth are given to people born out of the country upon their re-entry.

However, card-carrying Democrat Philip J. Berg continued to appeal the dismissal, and has finally gotten to the Supreme Court.  There,

“Supreme Court Justice David Souter’s Clerk informed Philip J. Berg, the lawyer who brought the case against Obama, that his petition for an injunction to stay the November 4th election was denied, but the Clerk also required the defendants to respond to the Writ of Certiorari (which requires the concurrence of four Justices) by December 1. At that time, Mr. Obama must present to the Court an authentic birth certificate, after which Mr. Berg will respond.

If Obama fails to do that, it is sure to inspire the skepticism of the Justices, who are unaccustomed to being defied. They will have to decide what to do about a president-elect who refuses to prove his natural-born citizenship.

‘I can see a unanimous Court (en banc) decertifying the election if Obama refuses to produce his birth certificate,” says Raymond S. Kraft, an attorney and writer. “They cannot do otherwise without abandoning all credibility as guardians of the Constitution. Even the most liberal justices, however loathe they may to do this, still consider themselves guardians of the Constitution. The Court is very jealous of its power - even over presidents, even over presidents-elect.’

Also remember that on December 13, the Electoral College meets to casts its votes. If it has been determined that Mr. Obama is an illegal alien and therefore ineligible to become President of the United States, the Electors will be duty-bound to honor the Constitution.”

Fireworks Initiative Has Enough Signatures to Make the Ballot

Published by Cindy under Uncategorized

Here is a post I just received from Don Burkhart on Blakely Island who has been gathering signatures to put the fireworks ban on the ballot so that the citizens can decide for themselves what to do with their celebration of the 4th of July.  Congratulations, Don, and to all those who helped with this effort!

We did it!
I just received a note from San Juan County Auditor Milene Henley.
Referendum 2008-2 has been certified by her this day.
What happens now? The ordinance is put on hold pending decsion of the County Council on whether to cancel the ordinance (unlikely), or to put it on the November 2009 ballot. If it passes there (again I think, I hope unlikely), it will go into effect in time for July 2011. So we’ve got ourselves at least a couple more years of fireworks at a minimum.
Congratulations and thanks to all for their donations, hard work, and dedication towards making this effort successful. We can make a difference!

Referendum Rockets to Success

November 12 – It took only 65 days to gather enough signatures for Referendum 2008-2 to be certified by County Auditor Milene Henley. On October 9th, Fireworks Unrestricted of Blakely Island submitted 1,915 signatures. But SJC Elections was so busy with the general election, that only now some 5 weeks later did it have the time to tally up and certify the result. Of those signatures submitted 1,647 were validated, well in excess of the 1,522 required. County Council must now decide whether to cancel the ordinance outright, or to place it onto the November 2009 general election ballot.

“We had 1,600 signatures in the first 30 days (by Labor Day), but continued to gather ‘insurance signatures’ for another month to ensure success”, said referendum sponsor Don Burkhart, “That shortened time frame demonstrates the broad level of support our effort enjoyed. Council would do well to recognize that their ban is a real dud, and that SJC voters demand a say-so in any curtailment of their personal freedom.”

He went on to voice his hope that the Council would concede that the ordinance is a mistake, and to not waste any more of the voters’ time on it. It is his hope that the Council will take an active leadership role by canceling it outright, rather than waiting a year for it to come to ballot where, in his view, it will likely fail. In its place, Mr. Burkhart proposes a new so-called ‘designated areas’ ordinance, prohibiting the ignition of fireworks in fire-prone forested and vegetated areas, as locally identified by each island.

“There are two critical principles that must be observed. First and foremost, the voters of San Juan County must be the ones who make this decision”, says Burkhart, “Secondly, SJC is unique in its makeup as a number of distinct islands each with its own individual situation. What’s a problem in Friday Harbor may not even exist elsewhere. We all chafe when the Fed or State comes to us with a one-size-fits-all solution. Is it so difficult to understand that the same is true downstream? Local control is not being incorporated into the governance of San Juan County, and this desperately needs to change.”

REMEMBER THESE WORDS ON 4 NOVEMBER 2008

“You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away man’s initiative and independence.
You cannot help men permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.”

Where are they now?

Published by admin under Uncategorized

Here’s a quick look at 3 former Fannie Mae executives who have brought down Wall Street.

Franklin Raines was a Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Fannie Mae.  Raines was forced to retire from his position with Fannie Mae when auditors discovered severe irregulaties in Fannie Mae’s accounting activities.  At the time of his departure The Wall Street Journal noted, “Raines, who long defended the company’s accounting, issued a statement late Tuesday conceding that ‘mistakes were made’!!!  News reports indicate the company’s books ran afoul of generally accepted accounting principles for four years.”  Fannie Mae had to reduce its surplus by $9 billion.

Raines left with a golden parachute valued at $240 million.

The Government filed suit against Raines when the depth of the accounting scandal became clear. http://housingdoom.com/2006/12/18/fannie-charges/.

The Government noted, “The 101 charges [Did you catch that?  101 charges?] reveal how individuals improperly manipulated earnings to maximize their bonuses, while knowingly neglecting accounting systems and misapplying accounting principles, misleading the regulator and the public……they submitted six years of misleading and inaccurate accounting statements and capital reports.”  These charges were made in 2006.  The Court ordered Raines to return $50 million he received in bonuses based on the misstated Fannie Mae profits. By Orson Scott Card | See at Meridian Magazine

Editor’s note: Orson Scott Card is a Democrat and a newspaper columnist, and in this opinion piece he takes on both while lamenting the current state of journalism.

An open letter to the local daily paper — almost every local daily paper in America:

I remember reading All the President’s Men and thinking: That’s journalism. You do what it takes to get the truth and you lay it before the public, because the public has a right to know.

This housing crisis didn’t come out of nowhere. It was not a vague emanation of the evil Bush administration.

It was a direct result of the political decision, back in the late 1990s, to loosen the rules of lending so that home loans would be more accessible to poor people. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were authorized to approve risky loans.

What is a risky loan? It’s a loan that the recipient is likely not to be able to repay. Continue Reading »

The Sacrifice Of Truth To Power

Published by admin under Uncategorized

The Spectator | Melanie Phillips | SUNDAY, 26TH OCTOBER 2008

What’s happening in this terrifying, Orwellian US presidential race is the flip side of the madness that’s been on display since 9/11 itself, when swathes of the UK population decided that ‘America had it coming to it’ because it supported Israel, and that George W Bush was the most dangerous man on the planet. After the Iraq war started this irrationality swelled into pathological proportions on both sides of the Atlantic, when the ‘Bush lied, people died’ narrative fuelled a hatred of Bush and ‘the neocons’ exceeded in its hallucinatory and murderous venom only by the truly deranged way in which the media and intelligentsia systematically either ignored evidence that did not fit this narrative or, even more astoundingly, reported it in such a way that it delivered the opposite of what was actually happening or being said. At ‘the point of the spear’

MILITARY: Are Americans ready for women registering for the military draft and being assigned close-combat roles? | Lynn Vincent | World Magazine

Barack Obama has consistently and very publicly staked out policy positions far to the left of the American public on such issues as taxes, abortion, and same-sex marriage. But one issue has slipped quietly under the radar: If elected president, the Illinois senator would require women to register for the military draft. As commander in chief, he would also consider assigning women to roles in close combat, also known as “the point of the spear.”

“Women are already serving in Continue Reading »

as Ronald Reagan would say, now is A Time For Choosing

Published by admin under Uncategorized

Michael Zak | RepublicanBasics.com | October 27, 2008

On this day in 1964, Ronald Reagan spoke to a nationwide television audience on behalf of the Republican presidential nominee. Here are the words of Ronaldus Magnus:

“If we lose freedom here, there is no place to escape to. This is the last stand on Earth. And this idea that government is beholden to the people, that it has no other source of power except to sovereign people, is still the newest and most unique idea in all the long history of man’s relation to man.

This is the issue of this election. Whether we believe in our capacity for self- government or whether we abandon the American Revolution and confess that a Continue Reading »

Big Labor Does Gay Marriage

Published by admin under Uncategorized

Because a teachers’ union has other priorities besides education.

The Wall Street Journal | Friday, October 24, 2008

Here’s a pop quiz: Who’s donated the most money to an effort in California to defeat Proposition 8, an initiative on the November 4 ballot that would define marriage as between a man and a woman in the state?

A) Gay-advocacy organizations

B) Civil-rights groups

C) The California Teachers Association

If you guessed “C,” you understand the nature of modern liberal politics. And if you didn’t, perhaps you’re wondering what exactly gay marriage has to do with K-12 public education. The high school dropout rate is 1-in-4 in California and 1-in-3 in the Los Angeles public school system, odds that worsen considerably among black and Hispanic children. So you might think Continue Reading »
