Senator Don Benton has been introducing bills that protect the rights of the citizens. You might want to alert people to these so that they can call their state representatives to encourage them to pass the bills.
Senate Bill 5819: Providing a moratorium on rule making
Introduced by Sen. Don Benton (Vancouver) (R) on February 19, 2013, suspends agency rule making until the latter of July 1, 2016, or when the revenue forecast for three consecutive quarters reflect an increase in state revenue above the official forecast. This act provides for specific exemptions from the moratorium. This act declares an emergency and takes effect immediately. (See also HB 1478).
Senate Bill 5820: Providing for a suspension of the growth management act during certain periods of high unemployment within a county
Introduced by Sen. Don Benton (Vancouver) (R) on February 19, 2013, suspends the requirements of the Growth Management Act for cities and counties which have experienced more than seven percent unemployment for three months or more.
Senate Bill 5821: Establishing consistent standards for agency decision making
Introduced by Sen. Don Benton (Vancouver) (R) on February 19, 2013, modifies current law to require state agencies to issue decisions on applications within ninety days of receipt of application. This act also allows applicants to appeal unfavorable decisions in Superior Court in lieu of exhausting administrative remedies first. (See also HB 1236).
