Dear San Juan County Neighbors and Friends,
The County Council is scheduled to complete their deliberations on the final two sections (Wetlands and Fish and Wildlife Habitat Conservation Areas) of the Critical Area Ordinance (CAO) this month. They will use the time set aside, as needed, to complete their work. The “draft” schedule is:
- Oct. 9, 8:45 a.m., continued deliberations regarding Wetlands and Fish and Wildlife Habitat Conservation areas.
- Oct. 16, 10:15 a.m., continued deliberations, if needed, and “possible adoption” of all sections of the CAO.
- Oct. 30, 10:15 a.m., public comments accepted and Council deliberations on all sections of the CAO. The entire CAO will be reviewed for consistency. This will be the final review and possible adoption of the entire Ordinance.
Notice: The above schedule is a draft and dependent upon how much the Council accomplishes at each meeting. Final Council Agendas will be available the Friday afternoon preceding the following Tuesday meeting at this link.
Permit Applications: If you file a permit application with the County that you would like to bring to the attention of the CSA, please contact us at info@commonsensealliance.net.
Important: The Fish and Wildlife Section of the CAO plays a significant role in the Shoreline Management Plan (SMP) update which is currently scheduled for completion in June of 2013. Watch for our attorney, Sandy Mackie’s, letter to the Council later today.
