The  2013 April Special Election ballots were mailed to military and overseas voters on March 22 and the remainder of the ballots were mailed on April 3. Voters in the Lopez Island School District will be deciding a bond measure. Voters countywide will have the opportunity to elect council members from each of the three new County Council Residency Districts.
You can learn when your ballot reaches the Elections Office for processing at the My Vote website at www.MyVote.wa.gov.  At My Vote you can also download a replacement ballot, update your address, find your voting history and more. If you do not receive your ballot, give our office a call so a replacement can be mailed to you.
Remember to return your ballot by Election Day, April 23, 2013. Your ballot must be postmarked by April 23 or deposited in a ballot drop box by 8 pm April 23.

The Bleak Future of Owning Property Within a National Monument

 I have made numerous attempts to get people to listen to arguments against the NM. There are so many reasons this is a bad idea.

  The map does say the NM applies only to BLM land however look at other NM’s in America and you will see that we will now be called “inholders”. There will be a slow sucking of county resources until we sell the land bank land and probably other conservation lands to the feds.Private land owners will be encouraged to sell as well since their property will have less value/uses surrounded by limiting restrictions.It didn’t take much digging to come up with examples of this. Did you know there is a NM in California that has been a NM for 12 years and still has no “Management Plan”? Did you read the declaration where the plan is for the fed gov to aquire more land within the NM? Continued
