Conservatives Concerned about diversion of hospital funds (updated 3/1/2017)

posted in: Uncategorized | 0

We have recieved an update from Michelle Loftus about the Public Hospital issue. We understand that not all of you will agree with this, and that is fine. Our party includes a wide range of conservatives. However, many of you have expressed concern, and we feel it important to accomidate that:

What follows is from Michelle Loftus on 1 March 2017:

Please send emails or call people in a position to influence this issue — Topic Suggestions:

Transparency Needed-At the SJCPHD meeting Commissioner Edwards made a motion to allow easier public input at SHCPHD meetings. The motion was amended and then tabled by Commissioners Harrington, Sharp and Williams. So your public input at the meetings remains at the end after any voting. Demand Transparency!

SJCPHD Money is for all District Citizens-Our levy money should go to priority needs in our community. In the Community Health Needs Assessment there were no deficit noted for women’s reproductive health needs. There is no need for PP expansion. There were needs noted for health promotion including immunizations, mental health services and medical health coordination. Search PH CHNA SJI. Note the research was conducted with various local organizations including PP. Hospice, paramedicine committee, senior health programs, nutritional support programs, domestic violence victim support and mental health support are a partial listing of community needs that need financial help before PP. Demand Fiduciary Responsibility!

Follow the money- Past SJC Democrat Chair Dave Delendorph’s daughter is an abortion surgeon in California. Under Dave’s leadership SJC Democrats work to elect 3 SJCPHD Commissioners with PP endorsements and SJC Democrat party endorsements( a nonpartisan race). SJCPHD carves out money from a fund intended to help local with their hospital bills to give $50,000 to reward PP without any clear need for local expansion. Demand SJCPHD meet local needs before paying political allies!

Please help,
Michelle 378-4738

SJCRP Mailing List Recieves Update

SJCRP Mailing List Recieves Update

Yes, I really am posting about this.

A mailing list is one of those boring, mundane tasks that is easy to ignore until it’s too late. Last year, we sent out a mailing and had close to 700 addresses returned. This several hundred dollar expense cannot be repeated. So I spent my day removing the yellow “undeliverable” sticker and then scanning each address that was undeliverable. It was a huge pain. But when people give us money, it is not to blow on postage fees. We can and we will do better.

For that reason our mailing list is recieving a complete overhaul by Cindy Carter, with help from Dave Vandeveer and Rich Swenson. Cindy is chair of our membership committee, and is doing great work. They are taking mailing lists from the county and the state, our previous master mailing list, primary voting records, and other assorted lists to compile a new and better master list. This very large task is being ably handled.

In a few weeks we will use that list to send out the announcement for our Lincoln Day event, a membership drive, and a short newsletter. This is basic outreach that can’t be accomplished any other way. We can email people, but our email database is much, much smaller (about 1/3 the size) than our physical address list. And while email reaches only one person, a mailing reaches a household.

This is one of those annoying administrative tasks without which we cannot accomplish anything strategic. We could have the most brilliant plan ever to make our county more conservative, but without outreach it accomplishes nothing. It takes many hours of dedicated service to update our records. It only takes five minutes to outline my goals and strategy to accomplish our conservative vision.

But it is the labor of many people, and many hours, that makes any strategy work.

Cindy Carter on State Committee Meeting Jan 28th

Report to the Republicans of San Juan County from the State Committee Meeting in Ellensburg on Jan. 28th, 2017 from your State Committee Woman, Cindy Carter.

I have great joy in announcing that there should be no water shortage this year, as the snow pack is massive and even Ellensburg has over one foot of snow on the level all over the plains. It was amazing to see all of the snow.

Following a very informative meeting on fundraising, we joined others from Whatcom County, Skagit County and Island County to elect representatives to the Executive State Board from Legislative District 5. We elected Sandi Peterson from Island County and Larry Helm from Whatcom County to represent us for the next two years as our Executive Board members. We also set up the 3rd Thur. in March at the Farmhouse Inn at 11:30 to keep our Legislative District more informed about possible candidates for our District.

We were treated to a luncheon that Susan Hutchinson, Chairman of the WSRP for the past two years, mc’d for. She allowed people who had attended the Inauguration to speak about their experiences. A few commented on how rude the protestors were, shoving a man’s 8 month pregnant wife and trying not to allow blacks or Hispanics or Native Americans to enter….they said you could see the hate in their eyes.

They also commented on how early they had to be at the proceedings, and the time it took to get through security. They sat in many different sections but one thing they all commented on was the roar that started from the back chanting USA! USA! USA!

They said it sounded like thunder rolling in from the back. This was during Sen. Schumer’s speech. They were also quite choked up during President Trump’s Inauguration Speech, saying that several times, they were moved to chills and tears. What a joy to have been there!!!

We proceeded to re-elect Susan Hutchinson to another two year term by unanimous voice vote. She accepted to a standing ovation.

The bylaws passed not unanimously, but again, with an easy majority voice vote. Some amendments were voted down as not having been vetted properly before the meeting.

A close vote took place for Vice Chairman, with Grant Peterson from Stevens County being the choice of the majority. He will be a great energy for the Executive Board.

We met a lot of Republicans from across the state, and it was great to see a mixture of many long time participants with a large infusion of new younger people. I look forward to attending the next meeting on your behalf.

Sincerely,

Cindy Carter, SJCRP SCW

2017 State Officers Elected

posted in: Uncategorized | 0

Over the weekend our State Committee Man, State Committee Woman, and Vice-chair attended state meetings in Ellensburg. We hear that the folks at state missed Michelle Loftus, who has long carried influence there, but we have no doubt that our new team will represent us well. Michelle stepped down this term because of scheduling issues.

In an email from the state the results of the party officers election was announced:

“The Washington State Republican Party (WSRP), meeting this afternoon in Ellensburg, re-elected Susan Hutchison as Chairman for another two-year term through January 2019.  ‘We will continue to build on our successes of the last four years with a great team at the state party,’ Chairman Hutchison said.

“The WSRP also adopted organizational by-laws, elected members to serve on its Executive Board for the next two years, and elected Grant Peterson as Vice Chairman.  Peterson, from Stevens County, was Director of Emergency Management in the Reagan administration and is retired U.S. Air Force.”

More information can be found at https://wsrp.org/. Susan has long served us well, and is both long-suffering and hard working.

We look forward to hearing more about it at our Central Committee Meeting this Saturday, Feb 4th, at Heritage Bank. More info here.
